The Content Marketing Manager (Principal) plays a critical role on the Content Marketing team at Ceridian. This key player will be responsible for the strategy and execution of complex content projects that help drive significant pipeline and position our organization and executives as thought leaders in the HCM space.

The ideal candidate is an advanced storyteller with a journalistic approach to content who is highly skilled and experienced at interviewing, conducting research, and writing at the highest standard. To be successful in this role, you will also need to understand how content fits into the greater marketing strategy. You’ll need to have experience creating content for different personas and mapping content across the customer journey. A highly creative and innovative mindset is essential – we want someone who can help us continue elevating and evolving our content marketing approach.

Job Responsibilities

Editorial storytelling

  • Develop research studies with an external agency and turn the data into compelling thought leadership reports, including survey questionnaire creation, editorial direction, and sometimes content creation
  • Write well-researched thought leadership articles and blogs on innovative and technical subjects (i.e. AI in the workplace, etc.)
  • Write long-form content, such as white papers, research reports, buyer's guides
  • Ghostwrite articles and blogs on behalf of senior organizational leaders to help build their brands as thought leaders

Content strategy

  • Develop content targeted to specific personas, funnel stages, and company sizes, collaborating with Product Marketing, Competitive Intelligence, and Growth Marketing teams
  • Support marketing teams in regions outside North America with content assets that suit their unique markets while leveraging existing resources and budgets

Data analysis

  • Build and track benchmarks for measuring success and ROI
  • Analyze data around KPIs, such as traffic, engagement, leads generated, and more
  • Connect with teams across marketing to gather data on content performance in various initiatives run by other teams and share best practices with the team


  • Mentor other writers and content marketers (internal and freelance), including copy-editing and providing creative guidance
  • Oversee our pool of freelancers, including owning the budget, setting up vendors in the system, briefing writers and assigning work, providing feedback, and tracking and submitting invoices

Job Requirements

  • Advanced Writing: Demonstrated experience ghost writing for executives as well as writing long-form content, including research reports, white papers, etc.
  • Creative storytelling: Demonstrated ability to craft content with a clear and differentiated point of view
  • Content strategy: Experience developing content plans and strategies in support of campaign goals
  • SEO: Experience writing for SEO and doing basic keyword research
  • Content performance and optimization: Demonstrated understanding of how to analyze content performance and optimize content to meet goals (i.e. traffic, conversion, etc.)
  • Soft skills: Creative thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and an innovative spirit – this role requires someone who is a change-maker, always looking to try new things and advance the plot
  • Technology tools: Experience with Google Analytics 4, Microsoft suite, Asana or similar project management tool
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree with 5-10 years of related experience in content marketing, journalism, or communications
  • Nice to have: Experience producing or scripting podcasts and/or webinars, advanced SEO experience (e.g. using tools like AHREFS, Conductor)
