Dollar Shave Club has a highly successful internal agency that handles everything from comprehensive campaigns and digital advertising to print and  packaging design and everything in between. We're on the lookout for a natural leader to be our head of copy.

As a Head of Copy, you are building on our heritage brand tone and edge and solidifying how we show up in the written world across all consumer touchpoints. You manage the small but mighty team of copywriters, ensuring that our output is on brief, on strategy and on brand. This is a leadership role. We are looking for someone who is motivated by coaching and teaching.

You thoughtfully guide the brand as well as the team of copywriters and any freelance talent on how to stay on brand. You’ll be expected to work on any project involving the written work. You’ll be expected to handle yourself as a dependable leader in the eyes of your team and the teams you work with outside of your own. You’ll work collaboratively with the Head of Design in creating the best work possible for Dollar Shave Club. You’ll align creative strategy and rationale behind proposed creative direction with leadership, while keeping larger company goals in mind. You should bring a mixture of best in class writing as well as mentoring of your team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Copywriting for various projects ranging from advertising to large 360 campaigns:
    • You are responsible for taking marketing briefs and solving business problems creatively through copy, e.g. you have strong creative strategy skills and can answer briefs through strong conceptual ideation as well as tactile execution.
  • Management & Brand Tone Leadership:
    • After onboarding to our heritage brand you will help lead the copy team and company as a whole in terms of brand tone and copy style, anchored in our newly polished brand book.
    • You will have an expert grasp on who we are, how we sound and how copy comes to life across all consumer touchpoints.
    • You review all copy from our writers to ensure that it is strategic, answers the business problem/brief, speaks to our consumer and always on brand.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 7+ years of experience proofreading, copywriting, creative concepting and strategy
  • 2+ years of experience managing others
  • In house brand support or Creative Agency experience providing ongoing support of one or more brands, preferably in the CPG or Men’s Lifestyle space
